At Pomfret Woodland Community Nursery, the quality of the food we serve is important to us. Children need energy in order to keep up an active lifestyle, and good food is essential to promote healthy growth and development. Our aim is to provide the children in our care with a healthy, balanced diet which is full of variety and which meets their individual dietary needs.

We plan the daily menus so that we include a selection of fruit and vegetable throughout the day. Our lunches are provided locally in the heart of the community and safely transported to nursery in time for lunch. Nursery staff prepare snacks and the teatime menu, all cakes and biscuits served at teatime are homemade by the staff and children. Fresh fruit is offered at snack and teatimes.
Mealtimes in nursery are a social time; the children sit in their room bases or sometimes in family groups. It is a chance to share news, discuss the day so far and to make children aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and diet.
We are able to cater for special diets for religous or medical grounds, and talior a weaning programme for individual children. All staff and out outside caterer have undertaken traning in allergy awareness.
