Pre-school

The butterflies group caters for children from age 3 to starting full time school. We offer full and part time day care alongside the 15 or 30 hours nursery education entitlement. We have a qualified teacher in this area, who supports the staff to deliver a curriculum which meets the needs of all children. The curriculum is also supported by the nursery manager who holds Early Years Professional Status.

Every child has a key person who plans individual learning for them, ensuring that the provision meets their needs. Children are encouraged to be involved in their own learning and contribute to their learning journey, and parent contributions are valued through 'stories from home'

We support children’s communication and language development and their literacy skills, through the implementation of the letters and sounds phonics programme. We provide a language rich environment where opportunities for mark making are readily available.

Opportunities are provided within the provision in the room and the activities and experiences offered to support children’s development in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Emphasis is placed in children’s social and emotional development, building confidence and self-esteem, and we work closely with the local primary schools to ensure children have a smooth transition to school.

Pre-school children can join the baking club, which is an additional activity we provide and from the age of 2, can attend the holiday club.
